Sara is the founder and co-owner of The Sunshine Academy. In 2004, she set out to create an early learning facility that provided quality learning experiences for children and exceptional customer service for families. Fast forward a few years and The Sunshine Academy is the top choice for families in the Laurel, Billings and surrounding communities.

Sara has more than 16 years’ experience in Early Ed. She has a degree in Early Childhood Education and has taught children ages 0-12 years. As a level 7 on the Montana Practitioner Registry and level 3 Professional Development Specialist, she is a leading figure in training and mentoring other Early Childhood Educators in Montana. She serves on the Best Beginnings Advisory Council, representing Child Care Centers across Montana while advocating for children. Her hobbies include camping, reading and spending time with family.

Greg Schreiner

Owner

Greg co-owns The Sunshine Academy with his wife, Sara. He has more than 10 years’ experience in Early Education and nearly 100 hours of Early Ed training and coursework. He is widely considered a “jack of all trades” and takes on a variety of roles in the center such as: school kid teacher, repairman, bus driver, plumber, gardener, and i/t specialist. His hobbies include camping, carpentry, and fishing.

With more than 10 years experience in Early Education, a Child Development Associate Credential, and Level 4 Montana Practitioner Registry certification Susan is an exceptional asset to our program. She has a well-rounded understanding of curriculum, having taught children ages 2-12 and serving for 4 years as the Curriculum Coordinator for The Sunshine Academy.

She is highly trained in the Montana Early Learning Standards, The Project Approach Curriculum, Positive Behavior Intervention and Support and Quality Environmental Design. Her hobbies include reading and spending time with family.

Karyn has 20+ years’ experience in the Early Childhood Field. She has taught ages 2-12 and has her Child Development Associate Certification from Washington, D.C. She is highly trained in The Montana Early Learning Standards, The Project Approach Curriculum, Positive Behavior Intervention and Support and Quality Early Learning Environments. Prior to her role as Education Coordinator, Karyn taught our Toddler Class for a year and served as our Nutrition Coordinator. Her hobbies include camping, exercising and spending time with family.

Jessica is currently enrolled at Montana State University-Billings working on her degree in Elementary Education. With 80 hours of continuing education in Early Childhood Development and her natural leadership and organizational skills, Jessica keeps The Sunshine Academy sailing smoothly. She is highly trained in The Montana Early Learning Standards, Positive Behavior Intervention and Support and Quality Early Learning Environments. Her hobbies include reading.

Kindergarten Readiness Teacher

Rochelle has worked in the Early Childhood field for 20+ years. She has extensive experience working with children with special needs. She has her Child Development Associate Certificate as well as nearly 500 hours of continuing education and training. She is highly trained in the Montana Early Learning Standards, The Project Approach Curriculum and Positive Behavior Intervention Support. Her track record for sending children off to kindergarten fully prepared is exceptional. Her hobbies include camping and spending time with family.

As a former Kindergarten Teacher, Jillian has the exact skillset you would want as your child’s preschool teacher. Her classroom is full of exciting projects and activities which facilitate learning in a fun and entertaining way. She provides the perfect balance for children as they graduate out of our Toddler program and begin to prepare for Pre-K. Her hobbies include watching her oldest son play baseball.

Kirby Sabec

Kirby has a degree in Education and is a Montana Certified Infant/Toddler Caregiver. Working with our youngest group of children, Kirby’s passion for sigh language is a wonderful asset to many of our new speaking two-year olds. Her gentle nature and emphasis on teaching pro-social skills ensures every child is prepared to graduate to our Preschool classroom. She is highly trained in The Montana Early Learning Standards, Positive Behavior Intervention and Support and Quality Early Learning Environments.
